In a game of Roulette, there are two different wheels. The American wheel and the European wheel and there are some obvious major differences between the two. The most obvious easiest difference to notice between the two though is that the American wheel has a single zero and a double zero while the European wheel only has one single zero on the wheel.

Another main difference between American and European wheels is that on a European wheel the numbers are completely randomized as where an American wheel's numbers are placed in pairs opposite of each other. These are the most obvious two most noticeable differences that even a notice should be able to spot on the two different wheels.

The American table makes more practical sense considering the red and black and odd and even bets are the first and last 18 betting spots are evenly placed next to single numbers to make it easy to understand, the European table however, offers a better view in beauty.

Though, the European single zero offers players better odds since the American wheel has a single and a double zero making the odds less likely than a European wheel. While it may not look like much, it will change the odds significantly by having a double zero.

The European wheel is commonly known as French Roulette or the Single Zero roulette and is similiar in very many ways as already explained to the American Wheel. It's the fact that the European wheel has only one single zero that makes the biggest difference between the two wheels in betting odds and in the style of the game it's self. The European wheel for some players is more favored than the American wheel for the simple fact it's randomized and more of a mystery as to where on the American board some mathematics can come into play for all of the American wheels alike.

It makes a big difference because the house edge with a single number bet on the European wheel sporting it's single zero is at a low 2.70% or 1/37. Meanwhile on the American wheel the house edge on a single number bet with 38 different numbers is 2/38 or 5.26%, so you can obviously see a betting difference and while most people think this is just rubbish and has nothing to do with your betting odds, it has a greater effect on those odds than you might think.

When you consider the sizeable shift in odds when comparing European to American wheels, it's always better to do for the European game because in the long run that single zero will favor you a lot more than the American game will. Although there's a ton of different factors that come into play with luck being one of them, it's better to help your chances out anyway you can.

So while some people prefer the European wheel for it's mystery and uniqueness and it's better odds for you, the American wheel still has it's fair share of fans.
