The city offers so much in a simple way. Everything in Budapest is laid out for you to enjoy a relaxing holiday filled with culture, intrigue and fun.
If you are considering heading to Budapest then you should definitely plan your trip as far as possible. There is so much to do in the city that the better you plan the more you will be able to cram into your holiday. You do not want to be in a position where you do not get to see everything you wanted just because you did not plan effectively.
There are many travel sites that offer you great information on Budapest and these sites will also include reviews on other people's holidays. Here you will be able to pick up great tips on where to go and where to avoid. However, the best way to find out is to experience as much for yourself as possible and then decide for yourself.
Budapest requires you to be outdoors quite a lot. If you are heading there in winter just remember that it can get quite cold, so take all the necessary clothing with. You will be doing a lot of walking especially if you like to take in as much culture as possible. This also depends on where you want to stay. If you prefer to stay in a hotel then the Hotel Victoria is a beautiful piece of architecture which offers incredible views from the higher floors. This hotel is just a short walk away from the city centre and some really amazing shops.
Budapest's restaurants are also incredible. You will be treated with very healthy portions of food and drink in a very hospitable and cosy environment. The weather does not get too hot there, even in the summer months, so this city is a great place to visit if you want to get away from the glaring sun for a while or as a change in your holidaying plans.
Another option is for you to hire a bike and cycle along the banks of the Danube. This river is the heart of Budapest and is really beautiful around sunrise and sunset times. Just a slow cycle in the morning will leave you feeling fresh and energetic for a day of touring the city. The public transport is reasonably good and the taxis are not too expensive, so you should be able to get around quite easily without having to hire a car. The roads tend to get quite confusing, especially in the older parts of the town. These parts are best explored on foot. Do not worry about getting lost because most shopkeepers and restaurateurs have a decent command of the English language.
